My DIY Moisture & Protein Deep Conditioner

I really like to include a good deep condition in my hair regimen because it has so many benefits and helps me give my hair some TLC! Doing deep conditions help: penetrate the hair shaft and restore its natural shine; fortify the hair with intense moisture or protein; strengthen and bring back life to damaged hair; combat excessive breakage and split ends and a lot more! I personally deep condition my hair at least once a month and when doing this I like to get a little creative and make it myself in the comfort of my own home..
Things I Use:

Honey is great for moisturizing the hair as it is a humectant, it is also an emollient so it softens and smoothes down the hair. Honey is an antioxidant which tends to make the scalp healthy and stimulates hair growth. Finally, it comprises of antibacterial and antiseptic qualities which prevents our scalp from infections or psoriasis and tends to keep our scalp clean and bacteria-free. This also keeps us away from dandruff and itchiness on your scalp.

Coconut oil is my absolute fav go-to oil out of all oils. It is one of the only penetrating oils (apart from olive and avocado) that go deep into the hair shaft and moisturize from within. Coconut oil contains fatty acids which bind to the protein in the hair and protect the roots and strands from breakage. The natural antioxidants and nutrients found in coconut oil will deliver critical resources to improve your hair's softness and luster. Coconut oil is rich in vitamin E, vitamin K and iron and effectively eliminates dandruff while boosting hair growth. Lastly, coconut oil contains both antifungal and antibacterial properties to protect the hair from dandruff and lice.

Bananas are rich in potassium that strengthens hair, minimizes breakage by restoring your hair’s natural elasticity, and facilitates repair of damaged hair. Bananas also moisturize your hair as they contain natural oils and about 75% water.

Eggs are rich in protein. Protein helps to make the hair follicle stronger and stronger strands of hair are less likely to break. Therefore, you’ll have fewer split ends. In addition to enhancing resistance to breakage, applying raw eggs to hair also makes it smooth. Smooth hair is easier to brush or comb and less likely to become tangled or knotted. Hair is also made thicker from the protein in raw eggs. This is especially beneficial if you have limp, lifeless hair or if your hair is thinning. Eggs act like a conditioner and moisturize dry hair.

The protein found in mayonnaise helps fill the gap and clings on to the hair strands really well. This makes your hair look fuller and gives it an excellent shine. The vinegar found in mayonnaise helps restore the healthy pH balance to your hair. Finally, the oils contained in it help nourish and moisturize your hair from deep within.

 How To Use:
Mix together 3-4 tablespoons of honey, 4tablespoons of coconut oil (or any natural oil of choice), 1 ripe banana, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise and water. You can blend the banana and your oil in a blender then add the other ingredients or you can mash the banana with everything else. (You can add more or less of the ingredients to your preference and to your hair texture). Now once you have a nice, smooth, lump-free mixture,  section your hair and apply it from root to tip all over. Make sure you get it all in! Now you can either wrap your hair in a plastic bag or shower cap and let it sit for a minimum of 30mins. I usually do an hour or two but you can even do overnight. You can also choose to sit under a heated dryer for the first 5-10mins to generate some heat. Rinse out thoroughly, detangle, moisturize, style and enjoy luxurious, beautiful hair!!
Happy New Year In Advance!! Stay Blessed, Beautiful & Happy.. xox
